When people begin their estate planning, an often overlooked source of income is that of veteran benefits. Some people think that it is only people who have retired from the military or those who were 100% disabled from a war wound that are entitled to these benefits. Sometimes this is the case. However, a lot of people do not realize the fountain of benefits that flow from the VA towards all veterans, their spouses, and/or their children, within guidelines. One should not shortchange him or herself by not tapping into this available resource.
Benefits range from life insurance and burial benefits to education, health care, and even home loans. Two other categories of VA benefits are compensation and pension.
